UNSPEAKABLE CRUELTY! Alabama Inmate Tortured and Raped, Dies Before Release

An Alabama prisoner died after being raped, beaten, and sexually assaulted for days. His family says he died just two weeks before he was supposed to be freed.

Daniel Williams, a 22-year-old father of two babies, was almost done with his one-year sentence for second-degree theft when he was discovered unconscious at Staton Correctional Facility on October 22. He had been there for two weeks before he died in a hospital, according to the Alabama DoJ.

His family says they didn’t find out he was brain-dead in the hospital until October 25 and that guard Joseph Headley said it was because of drugs. The sheriff told Taylor Bostic, Williams’ stepmother, “I spoke to the warden myself, and he said it’s obviously a drug overdose.”

She and Williams’ dad, Terry, “thought he got some bad drugs or something,” she said.

“And you could see where his hands were tied when we went to see him. He was badly hurt.” “I mean, it’s clear that it’s not a drug overdose,” she said. Daniel Williams died in jail after being raped, beaten, and tortured for days.

His stepmom said, “That’s when [dad Terry Williams] called the warden and asked him why the hell he told us that his son was dying of a drug overdose when it was an assault.”

“After that, all he could say was that it was being looked into.”

They found out later that another prisoner had taken him, raped him, or “tied him up, beat him, and rented him out for two to three days,” according to sources inside the jail who said this kind of violence happened all the time there. A website that raised money for him also said that he “was beaten, tortured, and sexually assaulted…by a gang of people with only 14 days until his release.”

Four days after being taken off life support on November 5, the father of two died.

The story says that Terry Williams and Bostic have hired a lawyer to hold someone responsible and stop any more attacks.

The upset father is said to have said, “We have to stop this.” “If I can save a few lives. You know. “Thank you.”

The outlet asked the warden for a comment, but he did not reply.

Corrections officials didn’t answer right away when asked for comment, and it’s not clear if any prisoners have been charged or not; the case is still being looked into. His family says they didn’t find out he was brain-dead in the hospital until October 25 and that guard Joseph Headley said it was because of drugs.

Williams had two young children.

The killing happened at the same time that the Department of Justice was fighting Alabama for not doing enough to stop prison guards from abusing and hurting inmates at its state prisons.

The Alabama Appleseed Center for Justice and Law says that a federal hearing will happen next year.
