The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly referred to as SNAP and previously known as the Food Stamp Program, stands as the largest anti-hunger initiative in the nation. 

Designed to address food insecurity, this program offers nutritional assistance to low-income seniors, individuals with disabilities reliant on fixed incomes, and other low-income households.

SNAP benefits are federally funded and managed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS).

In Florida, disbursements of SNAP funds onto EBT cards occur by 6:00 a.m. ET from the 1st through the 28th of each month, contingent upon the 9th and 8th digits of the Florida case number.

For January 2024, the remaining payment schedule is as follows:

  • 46-48: 14th of the month
  • 49-53: 15th of the month
  • 54-57: 16th of the month
  • 58-60: 17th of the month
  • 61-64: 18th of the month
  • 65-67: 19th of the month
  • 68-71: 20th of the month
  • 72-74: 21st of the month
  • 75-78: 22nd of the month
  • 79-81: 23rd of the month
  • 82-85: 24th of the month
  • 86-88: 25th of the month
  • 89-92: 26th of the month
  • 93-95: 27th of the month
  • 96-99: 28th of the month

Who Qualifies for SNAP Assistance in Florida?

To be eligible for participation in this benefit program, individuals must be residents of the state of Florida and fulfill one of the following criteria:

  1. Possess a current combined balance in their bank accounts (comprising checking and savings accounts) that does not exceed $2,001, or
  2. Hold a current combined balance in their bank accounts (comprising checking and savings accounts) below $3,001, and cohabit with one of the following:
  • An individual aged 60 or above; or
  • An individual with a disability, including a child, spouse, parent, or oneself.
