Importantly, individuals or families meeting the eligibility criteria for SNAP benefits after the designated period determined by their birth year or after January 13 will still receive payments for January.
There is no obligation for such recipients to defer payment receipt until February.
This provision ensures that eligible beneficiaries, regardless of temporal constraints associated with their application, promptly receive necessary nutritional support.
Varied Maximum SNAP Benefits Based on Household Size
The allocated maximum benefit amounts vary depending on the size of the household.
A one-person household is eligible for a maximum of $291, a five-person household can receive up to $1,155, and an eight-person household is entitled to a maximum of $1,751. For each additional person beyond eight, a household can receive a maximum of $219.
These figures are determined by the recent cost-of-living adjustments for the 2023-24 period.
On average, each household member is entitled to a monthly payment of $183. Notably, approximately 825,700 individuals, comprising around 11% of the population, receive food stamps in Arizona.
Beneficiaries with last names starting from A through V were expected to have collected their benefits by Thursday.
Those with last names beginning with W or X were slated to receive their payments on Friday, while individuals with last names starting with Y and Z were scheduled to collect payments on Saturday.
Funds Transferred to Arizona Quest Card
Recipients of SNAP benefits will observe the funds transferred to a prepaid electronic benefits transfer card known as the Arizona Quest Card.
Functioning akin to a debit card, the Quest Card is valid for use at grocery stores, farmers markets, and select online retailers.
The allocated funds are intended for the acquisition of groceries, snacks, fresh produce, seeds, and plants.
Notably, SNAP benefits are not permissible for the purchase of non-food household items, such as tobacco products, alcohol, pet food, or prepared foods.
