Following allegations that he intimidated law enforcement officers while brandishing a wooden cane, a man from Birdseye, who is 70 years old, was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, one of which was Intimidation With a Deadly Weapon.
A man named Tommy Allen, who was 70 years old at the time, was apparently inebriated and becoming hostile toward emergency medical services professionals who were present at the scene, according to officers with the Jasper Police Department who responded to a location on US 231 on Wednesday.
Allen is said to have made threats at policemen while wielding a wooden cane, according to the police, who said they came and spoke with him shortly after.

It is reported that Allen resisted arrest when authorities attempted to take him into custody. As a result, he was taken to the ground, where he was placed in handcuffs and then sent to the hospital for further evaluation.
Immediately following his discharge from the hospital, Allen was taken into custody and lodged in the Dubois County Jail.
