New information has come out regarding what happened surrounding the alleged gunshot and death of a woman in Miramar on Wednesday morning, in the presence of their two children.
An arrest report indicates that 28-year-old Derrick Feliciano Bargman-Williams is charged with homicide in the death of 25-year-old Jessica Frankel Singleton.
At approximately 8:20 a.m., Singleton was discovered unresponsive and lying on her side in front of a residence along DeSoto Drive, close to a car, according to the Miramar Police. After being transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, she was officially declared deceased.
The arrest report indicates that Bargman-Williams and Singleton engaged in a dispute that spanned the entire night and early hours of the morning. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, which originated within the household and spread to the exterior of the dwelling.
Bargman-Williams allegedly drew a handgun at that moment and shot Singleton in the torso, according to the police. She turned to flee the gunfire, but he allegedly continued to shoot her in the back and torso as she attempted to retreat.
According to the police, Bargman-Williams and Singleton are the parents of three children; the gunshot occurred in the presence of their two youngest children, ages four and one.
“Mommy is dead; daddy murdered her,” one of the children reported to the responding officer.
The neighborhood was cordoned off by SWAT after Bargman-Williams evaded capture. After a thorough investigation involving the Pembroke Pines Police, he was apprehended concealed in shrubbery located several blocks away.
Police claim that Ring camera footage captured a man who appeared to be Bargman-Williams fleeing while a young child pursued him while shouting “Daddy, daddy, daddy.”
The news of the gunshot astonished the local community members in the vicinity.
“Very frightening,” one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, exclaimed. “I lament that the suspect was apprehended for the sake of our neighborhood’s security; however, the situation is truly lamentable. Unbelievably tragic.”
The placement of the children will be determined by the Department of Children and Families, which was present at the scene.
