Road rage caused shooting at Wawa in Hillsborough County, officials say

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gunshot that occurred Saturday following a road rage incident.

At approximately four o’clock in the afternoon, deputies responded to a call concerning shots being fired at a Wawa located on East Hillsborough Avenue, according to a representative for the sheriff’s office.

According to the official, a man was shot in the leg and sent to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The man was seen in photographs taken by a witness trying to hold his leg while standing near one of the gas pumps.

At this time, there have been no verified arrests; however, the sheriff’s office stated that the shooting appeared to be tied to an incident involving road rage.
