A man from Mays Landing was charged with murder after allegedly killing his mother for the second time in approximately nine years, according to the authorities.
A grand jury handed down an indictment against Sean Daly, who is 53 years old, on Wednesday, May 22, according to a press statement issued by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. It was alleged that he was responsible for the death of his mother, Melba Daly, who was 74 years old and also from Mays Landing. The incident occurred on March 20.
At around 11:38 a.m., officers from the Township of Hamilton responded to a 911 call at a residence located on Quinn Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Melba Daly lying dead inside the residence. The possible reasons for her passing were not addressed in the report.

After being suspected of stabbing his mother multiple times on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, Sean Daly was also indicted for attempted murder, according to the Hamilton police department. The court records indicate that he entered a guilty plea and was subsequently sentenced to a period of four years in jail.
