Double Murder in Miami Condominium: Man Allegedly Killed Ex-girlfriend and Her Mother

Police say a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her mother in a Miami condominium building Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at the Yolanda Villas Condominium, located at 801 Northwest 47th Avenue in the Flagami neighborhood.

According to Miami Police, Isbelsy Olivera, 22, and her mother, Irisbel Cartalla, 50, were found shot to death inside a unit in the building.
According to police, a man who is Olivera’s ex-boyfriend infiltrated the building and ambushed the women.

“What we can confirm is that the suspect was somehow able to ambush both that mother and daughter, and they were found deceased inside of their apartment building complex,” Miami Police spokesperson Kiara Delva said.

According to a neighbor, the mother and daughter occupy an upper-floor unit, and the mother cleans the condo complex. According to the neighbor, the daughter does manicures out of their unit.

Jacqueline Granda remarked, “They are very nice, hardworking women; it’s a shame that this had unfortunately occurred.” “I wish the family all of the best.”

One of the building’s residents claimed to have heard that the daughter’s ex-boyfriend entered the apartment, waited for a client to exit, and then shot the two women before taking off.

According to authorities, the individual later turned himself into West Miami Police and admitted to the crime. He was taken into arrest by Miami Police, but his identity has not been made public.

Carlos Travieso, 48, was recognized as the suspect by friends and neighbors. Although Travieso is not formally named as the suspect, he appears in multiple photos on the victim’s social media accounts. According to jail records, he is accused of two first-degree murders.

The suspect would have needed to get past the security guard stationed at the front gate to proceed upstairs.

“The investigation is ongoing, there’s still a lot of moving components, circumstances surrounding what led up to the shooting is under investigation,” Delva stated. “

The circumstances surrounding what led up to the suspect being able to gain access to the apartment complex is still under investigation as well, so there are still a lot of moving components to this investigation as far as how he gained access into the building.”
