So we crunched the facts and studied 208 communities with over 5,000 people using crime statistics. We examined key indicators such as property and violent crime rates per capita in cities ranging from Jacksonville to Miami.

The 10 Safest Cities In Florida For 2024

1. Tequesta

  • Population: 6,193
  • Violent Crimes Per 100k: 0 (safest)
  • Property Crimes Per 100k: 435 (third safest)
  • Murders: 0
  • Murders Per 100k: 0

Coral Cove Park in Tequesta, Florida, offers snorkeling, paddle boarding, and other appealing beach sports, so you have more to worry about from sharks than criminals. The city earns top ratings for having the fourth and fifth lowest statewide rates of property and violent crime, respectively. And, with only two violent offenses and 35 property crimes in the past year of available data, you can be very certain that those “Florida man” headline memes are not from Tequesta.

Tequesta is the northernmost municipality in the Miami metropolitan region, located just north of West Palm Beach.

2. Weston

Weston is ranked as the third safest city in Florida for 2024, with the state’s second safest property crime ranking.  Weston is a master-planned suburban neighborhood in Broward County that is also the ninth safest in Florida in terms of violent crime.

Established as a city in 1996, Arvida/JMB Realty built part of the town, which is located near Broward County’s western development limit. It is the most western city in Broward County, with the whole west side bordering the Everglades.

3. Parkland

  • Property Crimes Per 100k: 561 (ninth safest)

If you’ve been paying attention to the news in the last several years, you’ve likely heard about Parkland as a result of the horrific shooting at the local high school. So you’re probably asking yourself, “WTF?” Why is this here?

What’s the answer? School shootings do not accurately reflect a community’s safety.  It also demonstrates how unexpected the massacre was in Parkland, which is a very safe neighborhood with low crime rates generally.

4. St. Augustine Beach

Its crime statistics are far lower than the state average, with two cases of murder, rape, and robbery. The city’s low rates of violent crime (28 per 100,000 people) and property crime (535 per 100,000 people) demonstrate the efficacy of local law enforcement.

Only two incidences of assault have been recorded, confirming St. Augustine Beach’s reputation as one of Florida’s most safe neighborhoods.

5. Niceville

Niceville, the fifth safest city in Florida, is a peaceful hamlet in Okaloosa County with a population of 16,345. The city is known for its nearly nonexistent murder and robbery rates, as well as its incredibly low assault rate, which results in a violent crime rate of 55/100k persons per capita.

Niceville, formerly known as Boggy, has a long history dating back to 1868 when the postal service was established. Its closeness to Eglin Air Force Base offers strategic significance, while its top property safety score, with a low 48 incidences of property crime leading to the #1 property crime rank, demonstrates its overall security within the Fort Walton Beach–Crestview–Destin Metropolitan Statistical Area.


Tequesta, Weston, Parkland, St. Augustine Beach, and Niceville are among Florida’s safest cities for 2024, with low crime statistics that make them both secure and pleasant places to live. Tequesta boasts the fourth and fifth lowest statewide property and violent crime rates, demonstrating its safety. Weston finishes third, excelling in property safety.

Despite a horrible tragedy, Parkland remains mostly secure. St. Augustine Beach exhibits effective law enforcement, whereas Niceville distinguishes out for having nearly minimal murder and robbery rates. These cities provide security, attracting inhabitants who want tranquility and well-being.
