Two people, including a teenager, were hurt in a shooting in Dallas early this morning after a fight between family members. The accident took place in the 3900 block of Happy Canyon Drive, close to I-45 and Simpson Stuart Road, around 7:30 a.m.

Sources close to the case said that the killing happened because of a fight between the suspect’s mother and himself. Family members named him as 25-year-old Marlon Perkins. Reports say that the fight got worse when a neighbor tried to help, which made Perkins leave the scene and later come back with a gun.

The suspect’s neighbors, the Pleitez family, said they rushed to help the mother during the fight outside their home. The boyfriend of the suspect’s mother, Steven Anthony, and a member of the Pleitez family, Justin Pleitez, talked about the scene where Perkins is said to have gotten violent with people who were trying to help.

Perkins is charged with going back to the scene of the crime with a gun and firing at the neighbor’s house, hitting it in the front door and windows. Nazareth Pleitez, 12, and Omar, 20, were shot and hurt, but their injuries are not life-threatening, according to the Pleitez family.

The event shook the neighborhood, and Justin Pleitez spoke of the shock and fear in the community. Anthony told the family who was hurt that he was sorry for what happened. Dallas Police have stated that a suspect in the case has been arrested.
