BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Warrants are out for the arrest of a former Alabama football player on charges of animal abuse.
Isaiah Buggs, a defensive tackle who played for the Crimson Tide from 2017 to 2018 before moving on to several NFL teams, has been charged with two misdemeanor animal cruelty counts.
According to court records, TPD officers were dispatched to a residence rented by Buggs on Diamond Circle on March 28 after receiving reports of two dogs left on the back porch, “surrounded by feces” and without access to food or water. Witnesses said that the dogs, who were badly thin and malnourished, had been on the porch for ten days.
One of the dogs, a Pitbull, was later destroyed due to unsuccessful heartworm treatment and “increasing aggressiveness.” The other dog, a three-year-old Rottweiler, weighed 52 pounds and tested positive for Parvo.
Police have been unable to contact Buggs, who apparently walked out of the home on March 19 and owed more than $3,000 in late rent. Stephanie Taylor, spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, verified that Buggs had not been detained as of Thursday afternoon.

A hearing has been scheduled for June 13.
