Which Dog Is The Oldest In The World? How Long Has A Dog Lived?

0

Bluey, a 29-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, was the oldest dog in history whose claim was confirmed. Bobi, a Rafeiro do Alentejo, briefly shattered Bluey’s record, which had stood since 1939. In February 2023, Bobi received her initial certification as a 31-year-old from Guinness World Records. But in January 2024, his record was halted because of concerns about insufficient proof. Thus, Bluey reclaims her 85-year title as the oldest dog in the world—at least for the time being.

What Was The Oldest Dog Ever Recorded As Living?

Born on June 7, 1910, Bluey was the oldest dog ever. She lasted until November 14, 1939, when she was euthanized at the age of 29 years and 5 months. Since then, other dog owners have claimed that their dogs have surpassed this record, but they have not been able to provide any supporting documentation.

Unexpectedly, there has recently been some debate about the record. On February 2, 2023, Guinness confirmed that Bobi, a Rafeiro do Alentejo, was the world’s oldest dog, overthrowing Bluey. Regretfully, Bobi died on October 21, 2023, later that year, at the alleged age of 31. After Bobi passed away, a number of vets expressed worry that a younger Rafeiro do Alentejo might have taken on Bobi’s identity due to the absence of proof that he was the dog that his owner claimed he was. Guinness has decided to halt Bobi’s record until an inquiry is finished in light of these remarks.

Which Breed Of Dog Was The Oldest Ever?

Australian Cattle Dogs were the breed of dog that was the oldest in history. This breed, compared to other breeds in its weight class, lives an average of one year longer, according to at least one research on it. But Bluey was a huge anomaly—she lived over twice as long as her breed average.

What Is The Average Lifespan Of Dogs?

A dog’s life span often decreases with size and weight. As a result, typical life expectancy differs greatly among breeds. Furthermore, mutts typically live one year longer than purebred dogs, yet because of their mixed ancestry, it’s difficult to predict how long they will live.
