LOUISA, Virginia — After Wednesday night’s drawing, a Powerball ticket bought at Louisa Mini Mart on 305 West Main Street in Louisa is now worth $2 million. Everyone in the neighborhood wants to know: Who has the winning ticket?
The numbers that came up in the December 20 Powerball drawing were 27, 35, 41, 56, and 60, and the Powerball number was 16. All but the Powerball numbers on Louisa’s ticket were the same. If this happened normally, the winner would get $1 million. But because they chose the Power Play for an extra $1, their prize doubled to $2 million.
This ticket is the only one in Virginia and one of only five across the country that matched all five numbers in the most recent drawing. The prize was worth about $572 million, but no one has claimed it yet because no ticket matched all six numbers. As a result, the prize is expected to grow to around $620 million for the next drawing on Saturday.

The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their gift. The Virginia Lottery suggests that the winner sign the back of the ticket right away to prove that they own it. The winner should call the Virginia Lottery to receive their prize when they are ready.
The Virginia Lottery will give Louisa Mini Mart an extra $10,000 for selling the winning ticket, which will make things even more exciting in the area.
