Governor Josh Shapiro announced on Tuesday that the Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is now accepting applications, offering rebates of up to $1,000 for hundreds of thousands of older adults and individuals with disabilities.

The maximum standard rebate has been increased to $1,000 from $650 through bipartisan legislation signed into law by Shapiro last year.

Notably, income limits, which had remained unchanged since 2006, have been raised to $45,000, expanding eligibility to approximately 175,000 more Pennsylvanians.

The updated income limits are now linked to the cost of living to ensure continued program accessibility, addressing the previous decline in rebate issuance, which had fallen to about 430,000 from an annual average of 600,000 due to stagnant income limits.

Governor Shapiro emphasized the administration’s commitment to assisting seniors in coping with rising costs.
