The family of a 12-year-old Houston girl who was allegedly killed by two unauthorized immigrants joined former President Donald Trump at the US-Mexico border in Arizona on Thursday.
Jocelyn Nungaray was discovered dead in a stream in north Houston on June 17. According to police, two males, Johan Martinez-Rangel and Franklin Peña, strangled her and dumped her in a stream. Both males were in the country illegally.
Former President Donald Trump said the case illustrates the Democrats’ “weak border security policy.”
Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis, spoke of the agony her family is still experiencing.
“I have to go through the rest of my life with my son always asking for his sister, and I just really, really, really want everybody to please take into consideration how important border control is,” says Alexis Nungaray.
Trump and his Republican supporters have chastised Democrats for focusing their convention this week on him rather than border security.

The moms of children slain under the Biden administration, including Alexis Nungaray, joined Thursday’s border visit. Speakers at the conference on Wednesday night accused Trump of exploiting the border to incite his supporters by dehumanizing immigrants.
The suspects remain in custody at the Harris County Jail. The lawyer for one of the accused is seeking a gag order in the case.
