A man was taken to the hospital following a shooting and automobile accident early Monday morning on Chicago’s Near West Side.
According to authorities, the man was riding as a passenger in a black SUV around 1:42 a.m. when someone in a white SUV began firing at him on the 200 block of South Ashland Avenue.
The man was shot in the torso, and both SUVs collided into a structure in the 1800 block of South Ashland Avenue, officials said. People in the white SUV fled the scene of the crash, and the gunshot victim was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was reported in excellent condition.
Detectives from Area Three are conducting an investigation.
