Early on Friday morning, three children were discovered injured and a mother was shot to death in a southeast Houston neighborhood.
Fox26 News reported that Police said it looked like the kids, who were between 3 and 10 years old, hit or beat someone. Also, one person is being held.
“One was discovered unconscious inside the home. A neighbor named Roderick Spradley stated, “The other two just so happened to make it around the corner and asked for help.”
Around 1:30 a.m., according to the police, officers were called to a location on Cosby Street regarding a report of a guy abusing children on the street.
According to Maisha Colter, CEO of the Aid for Victims of Domestic Abuse, “The majority of the time, domestic violence is caused by stressors and things that we see in ordinary circumstances, but certainly around the holidays.” “You may have pressures that exist around economics or other things that come up for people.”
When police came, they discovered the man up on a roof and two females in the street who appeared to have experienced trauma.
One of the children, who is estimated to be between the ages of 8 and 10, reportedly informed police that their father had shot their mother and gave them directions to a house in the 5100 block of Enyart.
The door was open when officers arrived at the residence, according to the police.
When the police broke down the door, they say they discovered a small kid, maybe three or four years old, suffering from blunt injuries.
The boy was brought to the hospital together with the other two girls.
“The children are not well. Blood gushed from the girl’s head. Her teeth were knocked out, I believe. When the police came, one of the children had been battered so severely that he was unconscious,” Spradley added.
A lady who had at least one gunshot wound was discovered dead, according to police, when they investigated the residence.
Another neighbor, Chris Smith, said, “I don’t know what to say after seeing all the blood and damage in the house.”
Smith has known the family for years and lives next door. He said the shots were heard by him and his wife.
“He started going crazy right after Thanksgiving.” “I believe the police have been here five or six times,” Smith said.
“We saw the difference. Spradley said, “He started getting angry and violent with his wife, family, and his dad.”
People who live nearby said the suspect has a past of getting into trouble.
“He would go to jail and get out right away.” This took place right after he got out on Sunday. “It’s only been a week,” Smith said.
The three brothers’ neighbors pray that they will get better.
“Those kids will be shocked for the rest of their lives.” Smith said, “They’re going to need a lot of counseling.”
Police say they have a possible suspect in custody and are questioning him. The police say it’s possible that the terrible event was caused by a personal dispute, but the investigation is still going on.
“Domestic violence happens because of control issues by the perpetrator and sometimes when you’re in a stressful situation and circumstances, including the holidays, it can be a stressful time for many people,” stated Smith.
