In her Georgia election meddling case against former President Trump, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene asked that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis be disbarred because she had a “illicit affair” with a top prosecutor.
Rep. Greene, R-GA, wrote in an X post on Wednesday, “Today, I’m filing a complaint to disbar Fulton County DA Fani Willis for her corrupt actions.”
Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee gave a certificate of immediate review on Wednesday, which means that Trump and eight other defendants can now try to appeal the order. This is when Greene’s post appeared.
“Fani should’ve been removed from her political persecution of President Trump after it was revealed she went on lavish vacations with her lover Nathan Wade,” Greene said. “The lover she paid HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars!”
According to McAfee, the lawyers for Trump and other people charged with election interference “failed to meet their burden of proving” a “actual conflict of interest in this case.” This was because they said Willis benefited from hiring special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
People said that Willis was having a “improper” affair with Nathan Wade, the special attorney she hired to help her with the case.
Trump and several of his co-defendants said that Willis was seeing Wade before he was hired, and they said that she was making money off of his job in her office.
Willis and Wade both rejected the claims.
Wade wrote Willis a letter on March 15 announcing his resignation. He said he was doing this “in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to move this case forward as quickly as possible.”
“I will always remember — and will remind everyone — that you were brave enough to step forward and take on the investigation and prosecution of the allegations that the defendants in this case engaged in a conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 Presidential Election,” Willis wrote in a letter to accept his resignation.
