Police in Dallas have arrested a person they think shot and killed a guy in Uptown last week. Roderick Butler, 46, was shot and killed six days ago, and Corey Antwon Thompson, 45, was arrested in West Dallas on Tuesday.

He is being held in the Dallas County Jail on murder charges. A $1.25 million bond is holding him. Dallas police didn’t say right away what made them think Thompson was the suspect or why they thought that.

Someone shot outside of a Wells Fargo bank on Tuesday, December 20, around 5 p.m. People who worked in the area knew Butler because he was often seen walking or sitting on a bench with bags close by.

Family members told CBS News Texas that Butler had been having mental health problems but would never hurt anyone. Butler was known for being kind. The victim’s mother also made it clear that her son did not bank at the place in question.
