A new study says that more than half of the people who answered think that if Trump is re-elected, he will rule like a tyrant.

A Harvard CAPS-Harris study found that 56% of people think Trump, who is the favorite to win the Republican nomination, will rule like a dictator if he gets a second term, and 40% strongly agreed.

The study stated that 59 percent of voters think Democrats are scaring people about Trump’s desire to be ruler for no reason.

Trump said over and over that if he was re-elected, he would rule as a tyrant for “day one” of his second term. This is what happened.

“Democratic talking points are having an impact on Trump,” Mark Penn, head of the Harvard CAPS-Harris survey, said. Penn went on to say that the survey results indicate that Americans are concerned that if Trump is elected, he will abuse his power.

According to the survey, more than half of all respondents believe Trump will pose a threat to democracy if re-elected, with Democrats predominantly thinking this and Republicans substantially opposing it. The issue divided independents equally.

According to pollsters, in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, Trump leads President Biden by 5 points, 47 percent to 42 percent, with 12 percent undecided. Trump’s edge narrows to 4 percentage points with undecided voters forced to vote, 52 percent to 48 percent.

Trump made the statements about being a dictator during a town hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity earlier this month, when Hannity pressed Trump about allegations that if re-elected president next year, Trump will deploy more autocratic approaches.

“To be clear, do you in any way have any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?” Hannity inquired.

“‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ he says.” Except on day one, I said no, no, no. We’re shutting down the border and drilling, drilling, drilling. “I’m not a dictator after that,” Trump declared.

Following the statement, Biden stated at a fundraiser that no one should doubt that democracy is under threat.

“Trump is no longer hiding the ball. He’s clearly stating his intentions. “He’s not hiding anything,” Biden added.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll polled 2,034 registered voters on December 13 and 14. It is a collaboration between the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and the Harris Poll.

The survey is based on an online sample drawn from the Harris Panel and weighted to reflect known demographics. As a representative online sample, it does not give a probability confidence interval.
