Those of us who believe in the saying: “You get what you pay for” may want to choose the Old Dominion State’s most costly restaurant for your next special occasion. Lovefood editors compiled a list of the most expensive restaurants in each state, and the winner for Virginia is Lemaire in Richmond.
Lemaire, located within one of Virginia’s most historic landmarks, The Jefferson Hotel, is defined as an upscale New American restaurant with marble columns and lofty ceilings.
Appetizers range in price from $13 for butternut squash soup to $24 for jumbo lump crab cake with parsnip mousseline, mâche, and Pommery mustard.
There’s a lot of fish and meat on the menu. The $25 burger is the cheapest option, and the $55 vintage grass-fed beef tenderloin with potato purée, broccolini, walnut relish, and green peppercorn sauce is the most costly.
The restaurant now has a 4.7-star rating on Google and approximately 1,000 favorable reviews. The polite service, immaculate attention to detail, romantic environment, and iconic crème brûlée, one of the most popular menu dishes, appear to be favorites among customers.
