This week, the body of a man, subsequently identified as 54-year-old Armando Benavides, was discovered in a garbage bin in a West Kendall neighborhood. This finding happened after Benavides shot his ex-wife a few days before.
On Tuesday afternoon, Miami-Dade Police were summoned to the 8400 block of Southwest 161st Place. During a typical garbage bin pickup, a county solid waste truck driver was surprised to see a corpse fall into the vehicle.
Following an investigation, investigators determined that the corpse was that of a male, with early evidence indicating that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Further inquiry revealed that Benavides had shot his ex-wife in the leg just days before his body was discovered. Fortunately, his ex-wife suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover completely.
Benavides’ death is still being investigated, and authorities have highlighted that he had no obvious link to the home near where his corpse was located.
This incident has generated various doubts concerning the events that led up to Benavides’ death and the motivation for his ex-wife’s shooting. The Miami-Dade Police Department is continuing its investigation to learn more about this mysterious situation.
