People have been talking about Jeremiah Smith signing with Ohio State for months. On Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, he did it. There were rumors that the five-star wide receiver would switch schools and go to Florida State.
And it gave Ohio State head coach Ryan Day a chance to make fun of the situation.
That being said, Smith is one of the best athletes in the country, if not the best. As a senior at No. 2 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Florida) this past fall, he caught 90 passes for 1,389 yards and 19 scores.
Even though Smith had verbally committed to Ohio State in December, he did a lot more than just talk to other schools.
He went on private visits and had a great time trying to get other fans to interact with him on social media.
But Smith signed with Ohio State early Wednesday afternoon, while Day was speaking about the class of 2024. Media also had a chance to see Day react to the news in real time:
ESPN says Smith is the No. 7 talent in the country and a five-star wide receiver.
