SANFORD, Fla.- A 15-year-old kid was arrested for first-degree felony murder after a fatal gunshot in Seminole County last month, according to authorities.

On Wednesday, Sanford police investigators detained the minor in connection with the death of 22-year-old Orlando resident Brandon Leo. According to officials, he was already in detention on an unrelated allegation.

Leo was shot and died in July outside a Sanford home while attempting to sell a set of headphones, according to authorities.

On July 20, just after 9:30 p.m., Sanford police officers responded to reports of a gunshot at West 3rd Street and Pomegranate Avenue.

Officers discovered a white pickup vehicle half submerged in a retention pond at the junction, where Leo was found dead inside.

According to the early inquiry, police believe Leo was meeting someone at a residence “to sell a pair of headphones,” later identified as Apple AirPods. According to police, Leo had driven into the home’s driveway and was waiting in his vehicle when two unknown persons approached the driver’s side and began firing.

According to Sanford Police Department Public Information Officer Bianca Gillett, the transaction appears to have begun online, with an arrangement to meet at a Sanford home. She stated that the house was unoccupied, implying that this may have been a “setup” to take advantage of Leo and the sale.

She claimed Leo looked to be an innocent victim.
