A 13-year-old boy from Canton, Ohio, is accused of planning to kill a lot of people at a Jewish church in the area.
The child, who can’t be named in court because he is a child, is charged with causing fear and acting in a disorderly way, which are both low-level offenses. It is said that he posted a “detailed plan to complete a mass shooting” at Temple Israel in Canton, which is a town south of Akron, on the website Discord.
Officials say the accusations come at a time when antisemitism has been rising in the US, with mass shootings at temples killing 11 people in 2018 and 2019.

Court records say that the Canton synagogue case was found on September 1 and brought to the police. On December 20, there will be a meeting.
The case is being looked into by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, and the boy’s lawyer did not respond right away to calls for comment.
David Komerofsky, the Rabbi of Temple Israel, won’t say anything because the situation involves a child.
In a post on social media, the Anti-Defamation League of Cleveland said it was glad that police would move quickly and that they believe this is a “teachable” moment for young people.

There has been a lot of sharp criticism of Israel for the deaths of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza war and the shocking attack by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7. Terrorists killed about 1,200 people and took about 240 hostages.
In the two months after the war, the ADL says, there were more racist incidents than at any other time in their history.
