CLEVELAND – The Ohio Department of Transportation reported that all lanes of Interstate 480 West just beyond Tiedeman Road were closed for many hours on Sunday morning due to a crash.
Just before 9 a.m., ODOT traffic cameras captured footage of multiple ambulances and other emergency vehicles on the site. The Cleveland Fire Department reported on social media that six automobiles were involved in the incident. Fire officials eventually confirmed that one woman was deceased.
Later Sunday, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the lady as Michelle M. Jackson, 22, of Cleveland.
A fire department spokesperson told FOX 8 News that six additional persons were hurt but are in stable condition.
According to Cleveland EMS, six patients declined medical transportation.
Drivers that were behind the initial crash scene were redirected and turned back. For several hours, the road was closed before the West 130th Street exit.
The road has reopened around midday.
