A woman from Pennsylvania, accused of complicity in her boyfriend’s robbery and fatal shooting earlier this year, was apprehended on Wednesday, as disclosed by the district attorney’s office in Montgomery County.

Katherine Emel, aged 29, faces charges of second-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy in connection with the demise of her boyfriend, 35-year-old William Carter, whose lifeless body was discovered on January 20 in Norristown, a suburb of Philadelphia.

Authorities assert that one of the assailants, tipped off by Emel regarding Carter’s recent gambling winnings, was involved in his robbery and subsequent homicide.

Surveillance footage captured three individuals disembarking from a vehicle to ambush Carter as he crossed the street to retrieve money from his car.

Prosecutors allege that these assailants, one of whom fatally shot Carter in the head, fled the scene after robbing him. Damon Brantley Jr., Daquan Allen, and Jerry Butler have been identified as three of the suspects implicated in the crime.

Brantley stands accused of being the assailant responsible for Carter’s demise.

Subsequently, police discovered the suspects’ vehicle ablaze, which had been reported stolen on December 21, as per a separate statement from the district attorney’s office.

Investigators revealed that Carter had been driving Emel’s vehicle on the night of his murder, wherein she had surreptitiously installed a tracking device in the trunk.

Furthermore, cellphone records indicated Emel’s communication with Allen before the incident, disclosing Carter’s recent gambling winnings and providing Allen with his location on the fateful night.

Emel purportedly received $700 from Allen post the murder, as evidenced by surveillance footage.

Described as a devoted father by his loved ones, Carter, a father of two, was reportedly visiting his 1-year-old daughter when he encountered the assailants while retrieving something from his car.

Brantley, Allen, and Butler were apprehended in New York and extradited to Montgomery County for legal proceedings. Meanwhile, a fourth suspect, a juvenile, was also apprehended but remained unnamed.

Emel voluntarily surrendered herself on Wednesday and is currently held without bail. The four adult defendants are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 16.

Requests for comments from the Norristown Police Department remained unanswered at the time of reporting.
