NORTON SHORES, MI – A West Michigan man was charged this week with possessing child sexually abusive material.

Andrew Johnson, 39, of Norton Shores, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 2, after police executed a search warrant in his house and discovered “hundreds of files containing graphic child sexually abusive material,” according to a Norton Shores Police Department press release.

Judge Maria Ladas Hoopes arraigned Johnson on Thursday, October 3, in Muskegon County 60th District Court. His bond was set at $500,000, according to court documents.

According to the news release, the alleged infractions were the result of an undercover investigation by special officers from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). HSI contacted the Norton Shores Police Department about the suspected crimes, and a search warrant was issued for Johnson’s home.

The police agency stated the case is still under investigation. Police are requesting anyone with information regarding Johnson to call the Norton Shores Police Department at 231-733-2691 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
