A Middletown man has been accused of sexually assaulting a young boy over a dozen times in three different locations. On Tuesday, Connecticut State Police charged Scott Predom, 60, with alleged incidents in Willington during the summer of 2023. In April, Enfield police charged Predom with alleged offenses inside their jurisdiction.
According to an arrest warrant issued by Connecticut State Police, Enfield police heard of the Willington sexual assaults while conducting an investigation and alerted state police detectives.
In late February, an Enfield police investigator met with the victim’s family to investigate sexual assault charges. The relative, a 54-year-old woman, explained that the victim, a 14-year-old kid, was sending indecent text messages to Predom. According to the warrant, she learned about the texts from another relative, a juvenile girl, who discovered them while searching through the boy’s phone.
According to an Enfield police report mentioned in the warrant, the kid was interrogated in March and confessed to “numerous incidents of sexual abuse by Predom.” The youngster informed police that Predom sexually attacked him more than 20 times over three years in several locations, including Willington, East Hampton, and Enfield, the report states.
East Hampton Police Chief Dennis Woessner confirmed Wednesday that his department is actively investigating Predom.
According to the warrant issued by state police, the child in Willington said Predom sexually abused him many times while parked in a cemetery. The youngster stated that these episodes occurred when he was 13 years old, leading detectives to suspect they occurred in the summer of 2023.
On April 21, Enfield police arrested Predom concerning alleged occurrences in the town. He is charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, three counts of unauthorized sexual contact, and one count of endangering a child and enticing a minor.
The next day, state police investigators met with Predom at Hartford’s Superior Court for more interrogation. Predom admitted to touching the youngster during the interrogation and stated that the juvenile “initiated the sexual encounter,” according to the warrant.
During the interview, state police revealed contradictions in Predom’s account. Predom became agitated and abruptly ended the interview by standing up and stating, “That’s it, we’re all through, goodbye,” according to the warrant.
Connecticut State Police charged Predom on Tuesday with endangering a juvenile, engaging in illicit sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree sexual assault as per middletownpress.
Predom is being held on $1.5 million bail. He is set to appear in state Superior Court in Hartford on July 31 in connection with the Enfield case. Willington is slated for a remote hearing on August 16, according to judicial records.
