A “Armed and Dangerous” transgender woman accused of gunning down her parents in their Utah home sparked an hours-long manhunt this week, threatening authorities she would “do it again” if captured.

Mia Bailey, 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 11 felony counts in connection with the double death of her parents, Joseph, 70, and Gail Bailey, 69, as well as the attempted murder of her brother, according to the Washington City Police Department.

“We’ve got some wonderful news. “We have the suspect in custody.” St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell announced in a Facebook live broadcast that residents of Bloomington Hills and Fort Pierce were no longer advised to shelter in place. “Everyone’s safe. Nobody else was wounded.” Bailey allegedly came into her parents’ home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, shooting her father in the head and her mother three times, according to KSL.

She then proceeded downstairs to discover her brother and his wife confined in his bedroom, shooting through the door and fleeing the scene. Both survived; Bailey subsequently told authorities that it didn’t matter if the shooting killed her brother, according to court documents acquired by KUTV. Bailey fled the residence in her yellow Kia Soul after going upstairs to confirm her parents’ deaths, according to authorities.

“Mia described that she returned to her father, who was lying on the ground, and shot him one more time in the head to ensure his death,” police wrote in a booking affidavit reviewed by KSL. “While doing that, Mia … walked back over to her mother and shot her in the head to make sure that she was dead.” The following day, police apprehended Bailey around seven miles distant in the St. George neighborhood. KSL film showed the suspected killer surrendering peacefully to a dozen armed officers. Police said she readily dropped her pistol before being detained.

According to foxnews, officers initially tracked Bailey down on Tuesday. However, before she could be apprehended, she took a revolver from her waistband, held it to her head, and fled. According to the complaint, Bailey later told officers that she had no remorse for her acts and would not change them. “Mia told officers that she went to the residence with the intent to kill her parents,” according to the indictment. “Mia said, ‘I’d do it again. “I hate them.”

Bailey submitted a petition to officially alter her name and gender in July 2023, according to 5th District Court records examined by KSL. She received both in August 2023, with the court stating that “there is clear and convincing evidence that [Bailey] has transitioned to the sex sought in the petition and in a uniform manner for at least six months,” including “evidence of appropriate clinical care or treatment for gender transitioning or change provided by a licensed medical professional.”
