Two suspects are in custody and face assault and abduction charges after reportedly kidnapping two persons and detaining them in an apartment for up to two days, occasionally beating them and threatening to kill them.

According to an arrest document, detectives responded to a kidnapping report on Monday, June 10. A man and a woman were allegedly kidnapped from an apartment unit at the Arbor Point Apartments on Hancock Expressway and taken to another unit in the same complex, where they were detained for days and abused with pistols and baseball bats.

According to the affidavit, an officer approached the male victim at a hospital and saw wounds on the back of his skull, a swollen eye, and numerous scratches and bruises on his face, arms, and knees. His eye socket was also damaged, according to the affidavit.

The victim informed police that he and his girlfriend were inside an apartment with a friend on Saturday, June 8, when several persons rushed to the door and forced the two victims out at gunpoint. The victim claimed that the suspects pistol-whipped him and beat him with a baseball bat for almost an hour inside another apartment in the same building.

According to the victim’s statement to police, the suspects were motivated to assault him and his girlfriend because they believed the victims had provided information to law enforcement that resulted in the imprisonment of a friend. The two victims were allegedly detained in the flat for up to two days, beaten, and threatened. Neither were tied up or physically restrained, but the accused threatened to kill the victims if they tried to flee.

The male victim stated that one of the accused, Joseary Arizmendi, 24, told him that he could go and get an hour’s head start before she began “hunting” him. The victim informed police that he hid behind a nearby dumpster before losing consciousness in a ditch and being taken to the hospital the next day.

The female victim’s account differed significantly from her boyfriend’s, as she claimed they were both led out to a trail and forced to dig their own graves, after which her lover fled and she was brought back inside the apartment.

During the investigation of the apartment, authorities discovered several belongings belonging to the victims, such as personal bags, wallets, phones, and credit cards.

According to fox21news Arizmendi was detained on Monday for first-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, and aggravated robbery. Linda Guest, 35, was arrested on kidnapping and assault allegations. Both are due in El Paso County Court on June 21.
