The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that two minors were arrested for allegedly leading deputies on a short pursuit and possessing an illegal handgun.
According to the agency, at about 10:35 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop a car with a flat tire driving on its rim near Stockton’s northern limit.
The driver refused to stop and led the patrol vehicle on a brief chase until the deputy used “legal intervention” to bring the youngsters’ vehicle to a halt near West and Hammer Lanes.
According to the sheriff’s office, an illegal handgun was found in the passenger seat of a stolen car that had not yet been reported.
The agency’s photos show a white vehicle with extensive damage to its front left side and a missing ignition panel.
Both the driver and the passenger were juveniles, and they were arrested on counts of minor possession of a firearm, minor possession of ammunition, felony evasion, possession of stolen property, and possessing a concealed firearm in a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
