A woman from South Carolina is accused of cutting to death a pregnant teen who was only a few days away from giving birth.

The 17-year-old Maylashia Hogg was reported missing on February 18. She was found dead in Barnwell County, South Carolina, on February 18.

Officials told WACH earlier that Hogg was going to give birth to a girl on February 14 and that she was going to be called Londyn Charity.

As of Monday, July 1, South Carolina police said they had found a suspect after months of searching. Arrest papers that PEOPLE looked at say that 62-year-old Jacqueline Reid was charged with two counts of murder.

Authorities say that Reid stabbed Hogg several times with a sharp object. Authorities say that Hogg was last seen near Reid’s house. According to the warrants, a search of her house found “forensic evidence of the crime.”

The police did not say what kind of connection Reid and Hogg had. It’s not clear right now if Reid has made a plea or hired a lawyer.

The police head of Barnwell, Michael Butts, asked people to remember Maylashia’s family and friends. It is important that we keep caring for each other, remember Maylashia and Londyn, and work together to get better.
