HOUSTON – Two children were killed in an accidental gunshot, shocking neighbors and family members.
Police reported an 11-year-old child died, and a family acquaintance said the boy’s grieving older brother immediately committed suicide.
Houston police claimed the kids’ parents had no idea how the gun got into the apartment and that the youngsters were in a bedroom separate from the adults. From the outside, the apartment complex appears to be unaffected by the tragedy that occurred on Wednesday night, but speaking with residents gives you a sense of how heartbreaking it is.

“The 17-year-old was showing off his gun to the kids,” a family acquaintance who declined to be identified claimed.
According to police, the adolescent left the gun in a bedroom and then left the room. At that point, authorities say a 14-year-old girl picked it up. She pulled the trigger, thinking it was unloaded.
“The little kids … they go and got the gun and it was a little girl, and she shot her sibling and she saw blood everywhere,” a family member told me.
Paramedics discovered an 11-year-old boy who had been shot to death.
According to a family acquaintance, one tragedy led to another. He said the teen, filled with grief, snatched the revolver and fled the residence.

“So, he goes to the woods and he shoots himself thinking that it was his fault,” he told me.
People who reside in the complex say it’s a good reminder to keep weapons locked up and away from children. However, when faced with such a calamity, their initial thought was one of mourning.
“It is sad. It’s the saddest thing that can happen to a family: to lose someone so young. “I can’t put into words what’s happening to the family,” Ceci Gomez said in Spanish.
Police claimed the 14-year-old girl who pulled the trigger was unharmed. So far, no news on whether anyone will face prosecution in this case.
