A Texas woman who lured a high school friend to his death while they were minors has learned her destiny, according to authorities.
On Tuesday, August 6, a Harris County jury convicted Keona Samireal Mouton, 22, of murder for her role in the shooting death of 18-year-old Delindsey Mack on November 13, 2018, according to Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. She was eventually sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Ogg stated that the murder occurred near Lamar High School in Houston, where Mouton and Mack were classmates.
According to KHOU 11, Mack had an infatuation with Mouton, who lured him to an after-school gathering where he was shot seven times by two men.
According to Ogg, one of the guys, Kendrick Johnson, was a gang member responsible for at least six prior homicides. In 2021, he was sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in Mack’s murder. Authorities have yet to arrest the second shooter, whom they suspect is a guy, and are seeking public assistance in identifying him.
In 2023, Dave’on Thomas, whom Ogg identified as the getaway driver, was sentenced to 50 years in jail for the fatal shot.
According to the announcement, authorities believe the fatal shooting was a targeted strike fueled by an ongoing feud between two Houston gangs.
“Social media posts had described Mack as a gang member, which led to him being targeted, but he was known to be an outstanding football player,” according to the statement. “He had recently transferred from Yates High School to escape gang violence.”

Mack’s mother confronted Mouton in court on Tuesday, delivering an emotional speech following a seven-day trial.
“I detest you. “You disgust me,” Mack told Mouton, according to PEOPLE. “Don’t cry. Those cuffs on your ankles belong to Delindsey Mack.” Mack’s grandma told the site that he was set to finish high school a month after his death.
“Delindsey Mack’s parents placed him in the one place where children should be safe, but Keona Mouton pulled all the strings to ensure his murder,” Assistant District Attorney Sarah Seely stated in the release.
Mouton was charged as an adult and must complete at least half of her sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to the statement.
