Filemon Perez, a Texas police officer, is accused of sexually abusing an inebriated lady and is being charged with major crimes.
After the victim had been drinking at a bar and the officer allegedly offered to take her home, the incident happened early on November 28. Reports state that the case has sparked serious worries about power misuse and violation of the public’s confidence.
The claimed attack happened around one in the morning.
According to the victim’s affidavit, which FOX 4 was able to obtain, she got into a fight with a buddy after drinking at a pub. She made the decision to walk home instead of staying at the pub. But because she was drunk, she started to stumble and finally stopped to sit on a curb.
According to CBS Texas, this is when the accused officer, identifying himself as “Officer Charles,” came up to her.
According to reports, the officer gave the impression that he was secure by identifying himself as a law enforcement official. The victim accepted his offer to walk her home after feeling reassured.
The victim stated that Perez requested a drink of water when she arrived at her home. She let him inside her house because she trusted him because he was a police officer. According to her account, Perez reportedly raped her at that point.
The assault ended abruptly when Perez “heard his radio” and stated he had to answer a call, according to the affidavit. Then he departed from the victim’s house.
The victim reported the incident to 911 shortly after Perez left. Information gathered by the Dallas Morning News indicates that the call was placed shortly before two in the morning.
Following the report, the Lewisville Police Department initiated an investigation and put Perez on paid administrative leave. However, after learning that he would be fired, he resigned. Warrants for his arrest were issued on December 4. On December 9, Perez then turned himself in to the police.
The former officer is currently being charged with **official oppression** and **sexual assault**, both of which are grave accusations with major legal ramifications. After paying a $155,000 bond, he was eventually freed from Denton County Jail.

Concerns about law enforcement personnel abusing their power have been brought to light by this case. Widespread indignation has been triggered by incidents in which people in positions of trust abuse their power to harm others.
Although they haven’t made many comments, the Lewisville Police Department has acknowledged Perez’s resignation and the gravity of the accusations.
Calls for greater accountability and steps to stop power abuses in law enforcement have been sparked by the incident. In these situations, the betrayal of trust affects not just the victims but also the public’s trust in those who have been sworn to serve and protect.
