On Thursday, the body of the suspect who was responsible for a tragic double shooting that occurred at a pub in Knoxville, Tennessee, was discovered at a motel in Jacksonville.
Kevin Matthews allegedly shot himself in the head as officers from the United States Marshals Service approached the hotel room, according to the police. The following day, after the incident, they had followed Matthews across state borders.
Both Matthews, who is 40 years old, and Steven Davis, who is 36 years old, have been identified as suspects in the shooting that occurred a week ago.
Matthews was thought to have been responsible for the deaths of Zachery Herrera, age 28, and John Goosie, age 41, both of whom were found outside of a tavern known as the Pint House. A charge of violence and a violation of parole was brought against Davis.
It was first reported by WBIR that the suspects approached the entrance of the pub and began attacking Herrera, who was working as a security guard at the establishment, for “reasons that remain unknown.” The brawl was attempted to be broken up by Goosie.
Matthews pulled out a gun at some time and fired multiple shots, which resulted in both men being hit by the bullets.
The charges of two counts of first-degree murder were scheduled to be brought against him before he passed away.
Last Tuesday, Davis was brought into custody, and Matthews was reported to be armed and dangerous before his location. Davis was taken to prison.
According to firstcoastnews In the past, Matthews was arrested in Ohio for a variety of offenses, including aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, attempted theft, and other smaller counts. In the state of Michigan, he was taken into custody for the offenses of burglary and home invasion.
