Crews from the Phoenix Police Department and the Phoenix Fire Department responded to reports of a rollover accident.
An SUV that had driven through a fence and hit a tree was discovered by the responders when they arrived.
The two people who were trapped inside the SUV were discovered by the fire crews.
Some more firemen traveled to the location to assist with the extrication process.
One of the people inside the car was removed from the vehicle and sent to a nearby trauma facility, where they are currently in serious condition.
After being extracted from the vehicle, the second person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
At this time, detectives are present at the location to investigate the occurrence.
For the time being, Encanto Boulevard is closed between 59th Avenue and 60th Lane.
For some hours, it is anticipated that the closure will continue uninterrupted.
