COOK COUNTY, Ill. – A suburban woman was arrested after reportedly attempting to smuggle drug-soaked paper into Cook County Jail. Pandora Sinon was arrested Wednesday in Justice, Illinois, on suspicion of attempting to introduce a controlled narcotic into a correctional facility.
The complaint arises from an August 18 event in which Sinon handed off a pair of white running shoes to someone at the Mental Health Transition Center and then left, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers examined the shoes and discovered three pieces of folded paper inside that appeared to be saturated with a suspected narcotic. The papers were forwarded to the Illinois State Police lab for further testing, which revealed the presence of buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid.
Sinon is the 42nd individual charged this year with sneaking drug-soaked paper into jail, according to officials.
“The sheriff’s office will aggressively pursue criminal charges against anyone attempting to bring these dangerous substances into the jail,” according to a fox32chicago.
