On Sunday evening, storms brought additional flooding to Hope Mills, which resulted in the displacement of seven people and two dogs.
Hallwood Drive was the location where the Hope Mills Fire Department was dispatched to respond to a problem involving flash flooding. Firefighters started evacuating families who needed assistance from their homes as soon as emergency personnel arrived as they arrived.
The authorities reported that a rescue boat was required to remove two people, five children, and two pets from a single residence; the evacuation was necessary.
A cul-de-sac in the neighborhood was described by the authorities as having flood water that was knee-deep across the area. An area-wide flood warning and a severe thunderstorm alert were issued as a result of the strong storms that moved through the area on Sunday evening.
Families who are currently residing in the region are receiving assistance from the Red Cross in their search for a new place to live.
