IREDELL COUNTY, N.C – A woman from Statesville was taken into custody after her son, who was two years old at the time, experienced an overdose and was given Narcan at the hospital, according to the authorities.
After discovering that her son was unconscious, Brittany Dawn Riley, the child’s mother, took him to the emergency department on Monday, July 1. This information was provided by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon determining that the youngster was experiencing an overdose, the medical staff delivered Narcan to him. The situation of the two-year-old child was brought under control, and he was taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem for additional observation. It is anticipated that he will make a complete recovery at this healthcare facility.

Riley disclosed to the investigators that she had been consuming fentanyl and methamphetamine at her residence earlier in the day. She was arrested and charged with felony child abuse after she was taken into custody MYFOX8 reported.
A bond of one hundred thousand dollars is being used to hold Riley. A notification was sent to the Department of Social Services, and the sheriff’s office has stated that they will be doing additional investigations into the incident.
