A woman who reportedly fled the scene of a crash in June was discovered dead at her house two days later, according to the San Jose Police Department. On June 15, SJPD officers arrived at the 2100 Oakland Road area for a report of a solo vehicle crash.
According to authorities, a 2012 gray Hyundai SUV was going along Oakland Road when it collided with a tree in the center median. Witnesses witnessed the woman driving the SUV to depart the site of the accident.
Officers went to the registered owner of the SUV’s residence but were unable to find her. Two days later, on June 17, at 9:51 p.m., SJPD officers responded to a reported fatality at the same address.
The woman who owned the SUV was discovered dead inside the house by family. At the time, authorities stated an investigation into the death was underway to establish whether the crash was a role.
On Monday, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office alerted the SJPD Traffic Investigation Unit that the accident was determined to be a significant factor in the death. This was San Jose’s 31st deadly crash and 31st traffic death this year.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identification.
