San Jose Man Arrested in Connection With BURNING DEATH OF WOMAN AT HOMELESS CAMP

San Jose police have arrested in connection with a case that involves the charred remains of a lady that were discovered at a homeless encampment on August 19, according to a statement released by the department yesterday.

At around 4:33 p.m. on Monday after getting a call from someone who stated that they discovered the burned remains of their missing family member at an encampment near Roberts Avenue and Vintage Way, law enforcement officers proceeded to the location.

After conducting an initial investigation, the police stated that they had located the body, and the preliminary findings indicated that the individual had been murdered.

The defendant, Jesus Casas, who is 39 years old, was in the city of San Jose when the police located and detained him on Thursday. On suspicion of murder, he was taken into custody and booked into jail. Casas is being held without the possibility of bail.

According to the police, the investigation into the possible motives and circumstances surrounding the event is still ongoing.

This was the 21st homicide that has occurred in San Jose this year.
