The San Francisco Police Department detained someone in connection with a Super Bowl-related incident that entailed hazardous contact between cops and a pedestrian. Julian Alberto Ulloagomez, a 31-year-old San Francisco man, is now facing accusations of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer stemming from a sequence of events earlier this year.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, on February 11, Bayview Station officers from the Stunt Driving Response Unit were surrounded by people riding dirt motorcycles and one on an ATV at a gas station on the 4200 block of Mission Street.
The defendant on the ATV is accused of striking and nearly running over an SFPD officer, as well as purposely colliding with a pedestrian before fleeing. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, with the pedestrian needing hospital care.
It wasn’t until months later, on August 29, that investigators, assisted by the Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team (FRET), caught Ulloagomez without incident. He was then arrested at Ingleside Police Station on accusations of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, and making a false police report.
Despite the arrest, the SFPD notes that the investigation is still ongoing and invites anyone with more information to come forward. “SFPD does not tolerate this dangerous behavior, and reckless drivers in any vehicle will be held accountable,” the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement.
