SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Neighbors of a guy suspected of shooting and killing two dogs this weekend are having difficulty believing he did it.

San Antonio police said they have identified the 44-year-old, whose identity has not yet been revealed, as the suspect in the case that has captivated the attention of people around the city.

Both shootings took place in a North Side neighborhood within a few blocks of each other.

According to the police report, at least one of the instances was captured on camera in the 1000 block of West Mariposa.

According to the allegation, the video shows a car halting in front of a residence before someone inside shoots and kills a dog on the sidewalk.

The other dog was killed just a few blocks away, in the 3200 block of Capitol Avenue.

According to police, the guy shot himself in the head as authorities and a SWAT team were about to execute a search warrant at his second-floor apartment in the 8500 block of Wakefield Drive on Wednesday evening.

He was brought to the hospital and was still in critical condition on Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors, meanwhile, returned to the area outside his flat Thursday morning to witness the wreckage. Miguel Cardona, who lives on the building’s ground floor, was taken aback by a pile of wood and metal that had formerly been the man’s balcony.

Cardona claimed to have witnessed SWAT officers tearing it down with equipment.

“Army outfit. Cardona described the sight as an “army of officers,” with plainclothes police wearing police jackets.

Cardona claimed that while the operation was underway, he and others in the possible danger zone were compelled to leave their apartments.

“(Police) hurried us out into the main office and continuously warned us to stay inside. “Don’t come out,” Cardona stated.

As he and others stood about discussing Thursday morning, they were having difficulty accepting the claims against their neighbor, the accused.

Robert Longoria expressed surprise that his neighbor would slaughter dogs.

“I didn’t think he was that kind of person. “He was, he just kept quiet,” Longoria explained.

Longoria and others claimed that the man accused of killing dogs was not only helpful to them but also looked after his pets, nearly a dozen cats. “It doesn’t fit him at all,” Cardona confirmed.

However, authorities say they have found information that identifies the suspected shooter in this case.

According to a police report, investigators conducted surveillance on him before executing the order.
