Philadelphia police are looking for two vehicles involved in a hit-and-run incident that killed a 24-year-old woman early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred around 3:42 a.m. on the 4300 block of N. Front Street in Philadelphia’s Hunting Park neighborhood.

According to police, Tahtiana Diggs departed the vehicle she was driving in with family members.

She fell while exiting the vehicle. She was then struck by at least one vehicle on the road.

Diggs was brought to Temple University Hospital and pronounced deceased.

“It is possible, given the circumstances I’ve described to you, that the driver was unaware they had struck a person,” said Philadelphia Police Captain Mark Overwise. “It appears there is a small SUV, light blue or gray, followed by a pick-up that is gray.”

Reporter Annie McCormick asked if it was safe to imply authorities didn’t know who hit Diggs.

Overwise said that they don’t. Additionally, Overwise indicated that she may have been hit by both drivers. The photographs were taken with police real-time crime cameras but were not shared to the media.

Diggs suffered head injuries. Police say no vehicle parts were found at the location.

Diggs’ two other family members were in the stopped vehicle and observed the hit-and-run.

There have been no arrests made. The 6abc Data Journalism team discovered that Philadelphia had 19 deadly hit-and-runs out of 65 overall traffic fatalities in 2024.

This stretch of road was the site of another fatal accident this year.

A short distance away, at Front Street and Hunting Park Avenue, a stolen Kia carrying five teenagers struck and murdered 55-year-old Wilberto Casillas while he was riding his motorbike.

The crash occurred on May 29. The teenagers were apprehended.
