Parents in West Virginia Were Arrested After INFANT Found With Fractures in LEGS, RIBS, And ARM

MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. – Two Mingo County parents were charged with child neglect after their infant was taken to a local hospital with several bone fractures, according to court records.

Carl Thomas, 26, and Cheyanne Varney, 22, of Red Jacket, West Virginia, were charged with child negligence after an investigation began in June, according to a criminal complaint filed in Mingo County Magistrate Court.

Troopers said they began investigating on June 13 after receiving a complaint from health professionals that Thomas and Varney had brought a 5-week-old to a Charleston hospital with many fractures.

According to the complaint, the youngster suffered many fractures in both legs, ribs, and left arm while in the care of Thomas and Varney.

Both Thomas and Varney are being detained on $200,000 cash-only bonds.
