Dennis Trost, 58, has been detained in connection with a hit-and-run collision earlier this week on International Drive in Orlando, which injured two adolescents severely.

The Florida Highway Patrol verified the event occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Trost, who was driving a 2016 Jeep Compass, is suspected of hitting two kids riding mini-motorcycles and then fleeing the scene.

According to FOX 35 Orlando, the crash happened as the Jeep was driving northbound approaching the junction with Parc Corniche Drive, and the youngsters were crossing it. According to officials, the Jeep collided with the teenagers head-on. Trost said he had a green light when he turned left onto Parc Corniche Drive, but he did not stop following the incident.

During the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol discovered that the mini motorcycles lacked headlights. Following the crash, both teenagers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. A 14-year-old was sent to Arnold Palmer Hospital with significant injuries, while a 15-year-old is in critical condition at ORMC.

The Florida Highway Patrol was able to quickly issue a warrant for Trost’s arrest based on evidence acquired at the site, including a damaged Jeep Compass that was found with damage consistent with the incident.

According to the first report, Trost was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more information may emerge as it proceeds.
