ONE DEAD, TWO HOSPITALIZED After Chain Reaction Crash on I-80 in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A chain reaction incident on Interstate 80 in Sacramento has killed one person and hospitalized two more.

The Sacramento Fire Department said that the incident occurred on eastbound I-80, just west of I-5.

According to firefighters, five automobiles were involved, three of which caught fire, and two individuals were hospitalized. According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver in a pickup truck was driving eastward on I-80 when he failed to see the traffic stop ahead. The driver collided with the back of a Toyota Tacoma, resulting in a chain reaction involving three more vehicles.

Police stated the Tacoma’s driver was declared deceased at the scene. Another individual had serious injuries, but the first truck driver suffered just minor injuries.

The motorist who died has not been recognized, and DUI is not suspected.
