One guy was killed and another was taken into jail as a result of a violent altercation that took place in South Memphis yesterday morning.

At approximately 9:30 in the morning, the Memphis Police Department responded to a call about a shooting in the 1900 block of Todd Drive, which is located close to Southgate Shopping Center.

Officers arrived on the scene just before 9:40 a.m. and discovered the victim, who was in serious condition. The victim was then transported to Regional One Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

At the same time that the community is having a hard time dealing with the aftermath of the tragedy, they are also having to deal with the cycle of violence that appears to occur with monotonous regularity in this particular part of the city.

Even though the Memphis Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, there is still a lack of concrete information regarding the occurrence. No information has been made public regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting or the nature of the relationship, if any, that existed between the suspect and the victim.

It was reported by Action News 5 that the situation on Todd Drive is fluid and continuous, which highlights the dynamic and frequently unpredictable character of terrible events of this sort.
